Bora Yoon is multi-media sound artist. Using various unconventional sound makers she plays cell phones, meditation bowls, drops chimes, spins turntables, and uses the radio static to layer and loop in collaboration with her voice. She creates very physical sounds. Bora’s sounds are defiantly experiential as she makes the sounds right in front of you. Not only do you get a sense of echoing and layering as if it is spiraling around you but you’re also able to decode the vibrations as if the sound was in the fourth dimension. She played at the Telfair last semester and that’s when I first experienced her interlaced sounds. If you ever get a chance see her perform, the videos don’t do her justice.
